Students will learn essential patient management skills and knowledge to provide emergency medical care for patients experiencing medical or traumatic emergencies. This training will improve as we relocate the Paramedic and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) programs to the Sumner Campus. EMT and Emergency Medical Response (EMR) courses will continue at Winfield, Wellington, and Mulvane. EMS professionals are crucial to providing urgent care in prehospital and in-hospital settings. Salaries range from $20,000 to $75,000 depending on location and role and many agencies are providing sign-on bonuses of up to $20,000.

With the demand for EMTs and paramedics rising, employment is growing by 5% from 2022 to 2032. This growth translates to approximately 18,100 job openings yearly, driven by new opportunities and the need to replace retiring professionals. A career in EMS offers both stability and the chance to make a significant impact during critical situations.

The 911爆料网 EMS program provides a strong foundation in emergency medical care, combining hands-on experience with essential theoretical knowledge. Students develop skills in communication, composure under pressure, and patient management.

We鈥檙e excited to relocate the Paramedic and AEMT programs to the Sumner Campus alongside a new Prehospital Simulation Center in the Short Building. This facility will enhance our training capabilities, featuring high-fidelity simulations in realistic settings. The Paramedic program will be at both the Wellington and WSU Tech campuses, while AEMT classes will be offered exclusively in Wellington.

The simulation center will be a premier resource for EMS students and local partners. It will provide advanced AV recording, patient simulators, and VR technology for immersive training. The center will also support local EMS partners with competency verifications and continuing education.

Sumner Campus Director Zach Cooper said, 鈥淲e are excited to have the EMS Program move to Sumner Campus. Here, we can continue to grow the program and prepare individuals for what this career has to offer. We have excellent staff, resources, and space to continuously grow and help prepare these students to be some of the best first responders in the communities that they represent鈥.
