911±¬ÁÏÍø to Host Spring Music Concert Featuring Student Ensembles

911±¬ÁÏÍø invites the community to a vibrant evening of live music at the Spring Music Concert on Tuesday, May 6th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert Brown Theatre. The concert will showcase performances from the CC Singers, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, and Concert Band, offering a diverse program that spans classical, contemporary, and popular styles.
The vocal music portion of the concert will present a variety of works, including a moving rendition of Kyrie, energetic spirituals, and contemporary selections like Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke. A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of Tomorrow Needs You, composed by Dr. Christensen with vocal arrangements by Stephen Butler. This touching piece is dedicated to the memory of former 911±¬ÁÏÍø student Hunter Stage, honoring his impact on the 911±¬ÁÏÍø community.
The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Jazz Band promises to energize the crowd with exciting renditions of Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis’s The Chicken, made famous by bassist Jaco Pastorius, Gospel John as popularized by Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie’s Blues in Hoss’ Flat, and the fiery Latin classic ²Ñ²¹±ô²¹²µ³Ü±ðñ²¹.
Rounding out the evening, the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Wind Ensemble will perform a medley of beloved movie scores, including selections from Disney’s Aladdin and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The ensemble will conclude with their traditional and heartfelt performance of Yorkshire Ballad by Kansas native James Barnes.
This concert is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend and support the talent and hard work of our 911±¬ÁÏÍø student musicians.
