Dr. Scott Layton

Vice President of Academic Affairs

Dr. Scott Layton is the Vice President of Academic Affairs and has worked for 911±¬ÁÏÍø College since 2002. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctorate of Environmental Science from Oklahoma State University.

Scott is a dedicated administrator and teacher with over 23 years of experience as an instructor of biology and microbiology at 911±¬ÁÏÍø and 9 years of prior experience in education. His accomplishments include the Bill & Judy Docking Faculty Achievement Award (2020-2022), being selected as a Watkins Fellow (2020), the Endowed Chair for Teaching and Learning Excellence (2008-2010), and the Stirnamin Award for Teaching and Learning Excellence (2008). His work, "Engaging Undergraduates in the Scientific Process: Exploring Invertebrate Endocrine Disruption," was also published in the American Biology Teacher in 2016.

At 911±¬ÁÏÍø, Scott previously served as Chair of the Natural Science and Mathematics Department, the President of the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Education Association and helped establish the Undergraduate Research Program in which he advised the completion of over 10 semester-long undergraduate research projects. Scott also acts as Chair of the Institutional Review Board.
